Bakers - Precious Biscuits

post production | animation | visual effectshome.html

This spot takes the viewer on an enchanted journey through a peculiar, yet ethereal land of nursery rhyme creatures. These ordinarily shy creatures venture out of their hidden homes into a glen after fallen crumbs magically burst back into cookies triggering a biscuit feast.

Among others, we meet a rather stringy, friendly fellow with a pumpkin for a head. There’s the Queen of Hearts and her flamingo handbag, Pradodo. Little Bo-peep forgets about her jaw dropping lawnmower toy sheep and the three blind mice are used as fishing bait by the Owl and the Pussycat. It soon becomes evident that despite the characters’ rather odd habits and appearances, every one of them is besotted with Bakers Biscuits.

Ogilvy, Johannesburg, brought together three companies to collaborate in creating this spot. Shy the Sun directed the animation, designed the characters, environments and props, while Blackginger handled all aspects of the 3D post production, including modelling, animation, texturing, lighting and rendering as well as the  matte paintings and online. Cab Films' Bruce Paynter directed the live action top-and-tail pieces.
